At Novellas International SEMEA we are always looking for new ways to improve our recruitment process. Because our candidates can be quite busy (as well as we are! :) we have decided to start working with a new platform for our interviews with interested candidates.
Finding a new job can be quite time consuming. Additionally, because of our international activities, time differences can further complicate the task of finding a suitable time for our recruiters and our candidates to schedule an appropriate time to meet. A third issue that you can probably relate to is that in the world of medicine, whether you be a nurse, technologist, physician, dentist or other health care professional, there’s always a chance that an emergency situation crosses your plans and makes you miss out on the scheduled appointment.
Therefore, in order to accommodate our candidates and give them the best possible support in applying for a new position we have decided to start offering the chance to do a digital interview. For a digital interview we use a fixed set of questions, so that every candidate for the same position will be evaluated by the same standards. All you require to do the interview is a computer with a working internet connection, a microphone and a webcam to record your answers. If you are invited for an interview by one of our recruiters you can choose to take the interview at whichever time suits you best. Once you have recorded an answer to all of the different questions our recruiters can look at your video answers and rate them. If you are rated as an interesting candidate for the position you are applying to you can be introduced to the hiring hospital. The same video answers you recorded can be used to already show the hospital more about your most important skills and realizations so that they can see the added value you would be to their team.
Of course interviewing digitally doesn’t mean there won’t be any personal contact anymore. We still like to be in contact with our candidates and will always give you a call to get a personal connection, discuss some of the answers and listen to specific questions or expectations that you might have. By mixing digital interviewing and phone or Skype contacts we are convinced that we can offer a better service both to our candidates as well as to our clients! United Arab Emirates: 40th National Day “Spirit of the Union”
The National Day is celebrated on the 2nd of December each year in the United Arab Emirates.
It marks the UAE’s formal independence from the United Kingdom and the eventual unification of the seven Emirates in 1971 which combined to form the modern-day country. People celebrate this day with flags and drawings on their faces. They also come together on the streets and celebrate this day with decorated cars.
The UAE were united with the best efforts of H.H.Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, H.H.Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum and his other brothers, the rulers of other Emirates.
In order to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the National Day “Spirit of the Union”, his Excellence Sulaiman Hamid Almazroui, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Kingdom of Belgium, the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg, the European Union and NATO, organized an event at the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Brussels.
Dr John Schulpen, Chief Medical Officer, was kindly invited and represented Novellas International on this very successful evening.
Novellas International SEMEA will be traveling to the Middle East in order to finalize some deals with our partnering hospitals, allowing us to link healthcare personnel with the hospitals involved and to fill in their open positions.
State of Kuwait
On the first part of his trip Johan Denewet will join the Arab-Belgium-Luxemburg Chamber of Commerce to visit Kuwait. From October 10th until October 13th they will be visiting Hospital Al Salam, Al Rashid Hospital, New Mowasat Hospital, the Royale Hayat Hospital and the Hadi Clinic. Novellas International will also have a meeting with the Minister of Health in Kuwait. To conclude this first part of the trip a visit has been scheduled at the Al Zuhair Medical Center and the Ahmadi Hospital and a meeting has been arranged with the esteemed Dr Emad Al-Awadh and Qusai Al-Amer.
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
The second part of this business trip will head up to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Novellas International will link up with the organization Belgium Healthcare to visit Jeddah, where the group be welcomed in the King Abdullaziz University Hospital. More visits are foreseen, e.g. at the Saudi German Hospitals Group and King Fahd hospital. Al Mashfa Hospital and Magrabi Hospital have invited Novellas International as well.
In Riyadh, the capital of the kingdom, Novellas International have received an invitation to visit the Riyadh Armed Forces Hospital. Meetings with other healthcare institutions are foreseen on the agenda, e.g. National Guard Hospital, King Faisal, King Khalid Eye Specialist Hospital, Dr. Sulaiman Al-Habib Hospital in Arryan, Al Mowasat Hospital and finally Security Forces Hospital.

Op dinsdag 13 september wonen wij ook het Zorgsymposium bij in Aalst! Dit symposium wordt georganiseerd door de Zorginnovatiecluster en zal doorgaan in CC De Werf. Dit Zorgsymposium stimuleert kruisbestuiving aangezien verschillende spelers de gelegenheid krijgen om met elkaar in contact te komen en te debatteren. Wij hopen er enkele van onze ideeën te kunnen voorleggen om zo ons steentje bij te dragen en samen met andere enthousiaste partners in de gezondheidszorg deze sector blijvend te innoveren! Uiteraard kijken we er ook naar uit om zelf inspiratie op te doen op deze bijeenkomst!

In July we succeeded to recruit 5 Nurses for one of the top five hospitals in Saudi Arabia (Riyadh). Once they start their missions we will look forward to their first impressions about living and working in Saudi Arabia! Good luck to them with their adventure abroad and a special thanks goes out to Werner and Nic for their help in the entire process!
New co-worker
We welcome Lieven Schepers, who joined the company recently. He’s a man of 29 years old and gathered experience in ICT recruitment previously. Now he is taking up the challenge to be even more successful in recruiting inside the medical world. Let’s wish him all the best and support him where we can!
